Van Ameyde Marine | The Netherlands

Van Ameyde Marine | Belgium

We have the following vacant positions within Van Ameyde Marine

Chemist / lab technician
Belgium branch

We are looking for a Lab Technician / Chemist for our office in Antwerp.

VAN AMEYDE MARINE is a 24-hours available independent marine survey company in Belgium and The Netherlands, operating local and international, mainly for P&I Clubs and carriers, with a team of experienced and well-trained surveyors who followed Higher Nautical Education and have sea-going experience as an officer (often Master or C/E certificate).

We have a strong reputation and high caseload in the field of oils and chemicals and are looking for a lab technician for our office in Antwerp.

Your principal task will be to witness various analysis on oil and chemical products in third-party laboratories in Antwerp and Rotterdam. Occasionally you might be asked to travel further abroad, involving a few days away from home. During the witnessing you will not only assure that all protocols are correctly followed, but you will have studied each case on forehand so that you can evaluate the results correctly and advise on the most meaningful way to proceed, in consultation with the marine surveyor leading the case. Other involved parties will also attend during a witnessing, so you will need the ability to discuss and deliberate. Afterwards you will report your findings in the English language, in a way that is technically correct and complete but at the same time also makes sense to the layman.

You will also be introduced into the position of marine surveyor, meaning that you will get involved earlier in the course of a case and carry out the on-site investigations yourself.

The marine world is not a “9 to 5” world. This means you will need a willingness to work beyond office hours occasionally.

The ideal candidate thus not only has a good theoretical and practical lab background, but also has good communication skills and a broad interest. We are looking for someone with:

  • A bachelor degree in the field of laboratory techniques or chemistry
  • Several years’ experience in a lab
  • Good communication skills
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the Dutch and English language, both written and verbal
  • A professional and flexible mentality

At Van Ameyde Marine we offer you:

  • A good salary
  • Excellent benefit package
  • Company car
  • Varied work
  • A team of very motivated colleagues
  • A pleasant working environment with continuous learning
