What are we looking for?
We are seeking a Marine Surveyor to join our team in Finland to work with international clients and interesting cases. Our clients include cargo and P&I / H&M insurers, cargo interests, shipowners, charterers and brokers worldwide.
At Van Ameyde Marine, your responsibilities will involve:
- Handling cases, communicating with clients, analyzing information, and determining the appropriate course of action.
- Attending surveys related to damages to a variety of cargo, vessel condition surveys, technical surveys, root-cause analyses, project/heavy lift load-out surveys, lashing and securing surveys, marine warranty surveys and more.
- Reporting your findings to clients, providing updates on claims statuses, and proactively protecting the interests of our principals.
- Contributing to the growth of our Marine Survey business and collaborating with the global team of Specialists.

What makes you the perfect candidate?
First and foremost, you are interested in diving into our niche field of business. Although you may not have previous experience as Marine Surveyor, you are enthusiastic about learning what we are all about. Background from working in the maritime sector is required. An understanding of the fundamental principles of the insurance industry, cargo, and marine surveys is advantageous but not mandatory.
Upon your recruitment, you will follow our onboarding process, and you will have support of more experienced Marine Surveyors with whom you can collaborate and enhance your skill set.
And further:
- Excellent written and spoken English are essential, and fluency in Finnish or Swedish would be a great asset.
- University/college degree in maritime-related field and some seagoing experience
- You are self-motivated and capable of handling multiple tasks with competing priorities, with a focus on timely reporting and meeting client expectations.
- You are a self-starter by nature but also comfortable working as part of a team.
