About Us
Van Ameyde Marine is a leading marine survey and consulting company dedicated to providing comprehensive and high-quality services to clients in the maritime industry.
Our expertise covers a wide range of maritime disciplines, including vessel inspections, cargo surveys, project cargo, hull and machinery work, P&I attendance and marine safety & compliance projects. The Van Ameyde Group has 46 offices in 28 countries and comprises over 1500 team members delivering risk management solutions to over 1000 corporate clients, worldwide.
What are you going to do?
We are seeking a Junior Marine Surveyor to develop our services in Lithuania, particularly in the Klaipeda region, and the Baltics in general. Our clients include cargo and P&I / Hull insurers, cargo interests, shipowners, and charterers, brokers worldwide.
You will develop your story, initially focusing on developing your survey skill set. Once you are comfortably settled, you will work with your Baltic and Nordic colleagues to explore further opportunities and develop your expertise further.
At Van Ameyde Marine, your responsibilities will involve:
- Handling case intake and communicating with clients, analysing information, and determining the appropriate course of action.
- Attending surveys related to damages to a variety of containerized cargo, vessel condition surveys, other technical surveys, root-cause analyses, project/heavy lift load-out surveys, marine warranty surveys, and lashing and securing surveys.
- Reporting your findings to clients, providing updates on claims statuses, and proactively protecting the interests of our principals.
- Contributing to the growth of our Marine Surveys business and collaborating with Baltic colleagues to manage the daily operations of our Lithuanian Lloyd’s Agency.
What can you expect from our company?
- A work environment that encourages creativity and innovation.
- Training opportunities that align with your personal development plans.
- A competitive salary, regular performance reviews, and clear goals to help you stay on track.
- As the marine industry does not follow a rigid 9-to-5 work schedule, you can be flexible with your working hours. This flexibility is a two-way street, and you may also have the opportunity to travel abroad, primarily within the Baltic region, and occasionally even further afield.
What makes you the perfect candidate?
First and foremost, you are interested in diving into our niche field of business. Although you may not have previous experience in our field, you are enthusiastic about learning what we are all about. You may not be familiar with the day-to-day tasks of Lloyd’s Agents, but you are eager to gain knowledge in this area.
An understanding of the fundamental principles of the insurance industry, cargo, and marine surveys is advantageous but not mandatory.
Upon your recruitment, you will participate in a job shadowing programme at one of our European offices to gain practical knowledge. Additionally, you will be assigned a more experienced Surveyor with whom you can collaborate and enhance your skill set.
And further:
- Excellent written and spoken English are essential, and fluency in Lithuanian would be a great asset.
- University/college degree in maritime-related field and some seagoing experience
- You are self-motivated and capable of handling multiple tasks with competing priorities, with a focus on timely reporting and meeting client expectations.
- You are a self-starter by nature but also comfortable working as part of a team.
