Hull & Machinery

Surveys of vessels, offshore structures and fixed & floating objects

Engine failure, or collisions with ships, quays, jetties and the like can result in substantial claims – both under hull & machinery (H&M) policies and in terms of liability claims against operators, ship-owners and P&I Clubs. In every case, we investigate the cause and extent of the damage and, if required, prepare repair specifications and apply for, assess and negotiate bids. We also focus on loss of hire, i.e., the loss of income resulting from damage to hull and machinery. And we assist the marine industry with:

  • salvage and wreck removals
  • collision & grounding
  • investigations bunker fuel disputes and surveys

When claims are not covered under H&M or P&I, our specialists assist clients within the scope of Freight, Demurrage and Defence. Our surveyors help prepare your rebuttal in cases of vessel performance, port and berth as well as stevedore damage.

Any vessel or machinery related question

Our service offering doesn’t end there. We conduct, e.g., suitability inspections and sale & purchase assessments, valuations for economic or insurance purposes and prepare dry-dock specifications and repair schedules. Being the experts in all issues related to hull and machinery, we even conduct court surveys and regularly serve as expert witnesses.
