Van Ameyde Marine Claims Manager Receives Bronze Medal of Merit

Author: Lucy HollandWe are pleased to share that Claims Manager, Antti Huhtamaki, has been awarded the Bronze Medal of Merit for Ten years’ service of employment with Van Ameyde Marine, formerly Lars Krogius.
The Finland Chamber of Commerce offers a way to reward employees for their excellence – this is a tradition that’s been around since 1929 and we have followed this tradition.
This tradition is The Medal of Merit. We can apply for medal of merit for staff members who have worked for 10 years or more for the same employer or as an independent entrepreneur, or for holding a long-term position of trust. The medal acknowledges valued experience and skills, trust and honesty.
Originally, Antti joined the company as a surveyor, but his role quickly changed and adapted to claims handling. Today, Antti’s work is related to claims management and handling, of which the majority is liability claims and PPI, with some car claims. During his time with Van Ameyde Marine, Antti enjoys conducting surveys, which makes a nice change to the usual office work and appreciates being able to meet with colleagues across the company as opportunity arises.
In November 2023 Antti was promoted as Claims Manager. In his new role Antti is now a Senior in Claims Handling and Key Account Manager for specific clients. Antti is in constant communication with clients and customers, while being a part of the whole process, therefore he can understand perspectives from not only the claims handling point of view, but also the technical side too. Throughout the entire process, Antti works to ensure the process is as easy as possible for others whilst working to find solutions.
Recently, Antti has been training a new claims handler, who has joined the company straight from school, where they explored how to approach each individual case, working claim by claim. This helped Antti to look at the cases from a new perspective.
Operations Manager, Claims, Mikko Kuokkanen, works closely with Antti, describing him as an “important part of our claims team” reflecting on the last 10 years, his role has expanded and has introduced new responsibilities. Mikko says “Antti is a reliable team player with proactive and “can do” attitude - always willing to help others and making things work for our clients. Thank you Antti for these past 10 years and I look forward working together in the forthcoming years!”
