Stuart Wallace is a Master Mariner with a Law Degree who started his seagoing career in 1985 and has since sailed in general cargo, product tankers, Ro-Ro, passenger, research and military vessels to the rank of Master. During this time periods ashore saw a Safety Management System written from scratch and another completely revised.
Moving permanently ashore to Ship Management Stuart was part of the team ensuring the safe and efficient operation of a fleet of freight and passenger RO – RO ferries. During this time, he acted in the capacity of Designated Person under both the International Safety Management and the Port Marine Safety Codes. A move into Marine Consulting in the City of London followed in 2010 where as well as his own case work, he managed a team of surveyors. He has also undertaken significant marine logistics projects for an Oil and Gas Major and, prior to joining Van Ameyde Marine in 2023, was a maritime operations lead for a search and rescue organisation. His specialisms include assurance and safety management systems, marine casualty investigation, marine logistics and marine warranty. He has acted as an expert witness in port management disputes.
