Van Ameyde Marine is pleased to announce the appointment of Captain Stephen Norman as Commercial Director for it’s UK operations, further strengthening the company’s senior leadership team as it continues to expand its global marine services capability.

Captain Norman joins Van Ameyde Marine following a distinguished career with DNV, where he built extensive experience across marine assurance, technical consultancy and senior client engagement within the maritime and offshore sectors. A Class 1 Master Mariner he brings more than three decades of operational, commercial and risk-management expertise spanning the energy, oil and gas, renewables, decommissioning, shipping and marine warranty sectors.

A respected industry figure, Captain Norman is a founder Director and former Chair of the Society of Offshore Marine Warranty Surveyors (SOMWS) and remains an active board member, contributing to the development of global best practice for Marine Warranty Surveyors (MWS) engagement. He is a recognised presenter at Lloyd’s and major industry conferences.

Throughout his career, he has supported clients across the insurance market, infrastructure developers, vessel owners, ports and offshore operators. His recent work includes delivering integrated assurance solutions for onshore and offshore transmission, distribution, and renewables projects, with a strong focus on early-stage risk management, supply-chain assurance, digitalisation, cyber-risk and technology qualification.

In his new role, Captain Norman will lead commercial strategy across Van Ameyde Marine’s portfolio, strengthening client relationships and support the development of new service offerings aligned with evolving market demands and international growth.
