Van Ameyde Marine is pleased to announce the appointment of Bronwen Carey as Consultant Chemist, strengthening our specialist capability in bunker quality disputes and liquid chemical cargo cases across the UK and internationally.

Bronwen is a highly experienced chemist with a Master's degree in Chemistry with Industrial Experience (MChem). She began her career in investigative analytical laboratories, specialising in petroleum product analysis, and went on to design, build and accredit a fuel testing laboratory to UKAS standards. Bronwen has a rare combination of technical depth and operational leadership.

            Her expertise spans:

            • Bunker Quality Disputes – including fuel characterisation, contaminant identification and advanced investigative analysis
            • Liquid Bulk Cargoes – petrochemicals, oils and liquefied gases
            • Advanced Analytical Techniques – particularly GC/GC-MS, applied to complex fuel and cargo investigations • Global Laboratory Attendance – witnessing and overseeing fuel and cargo testing worldwide

Bronwen will be joining Van Ameyde Marine’s international Bunker Quality Dispute Team, working alongside Walter Dekkers (Chief Engineer), Gregory Vervalle (Chemist) and Thomas Russell (Marine Surveyor & Consultant). Together, this multidisciplinary group brings deep technical, operational and investigative expertise to complex bunker quality matters worldwide.

In her new role, Bronwen will work with Van Ameyde Marine's Bunker Quality Dispute team to support P&I Clubs, owners, charterers, insurers and legal teams on complex bunker and cargo matters globally, bringing a rigorous scientific approach to technical disputes and investigative casework.

Bronwen commented, "I'm delighted to be joining Van Ameyde Marine. It's a great opportunity to bring my fuel chemistry expertise to their marine offering and to support clients on complex bunker and cargo matters, and I'm looking forward to getting stuck in!"

Managing Director, René van Dijk, adds: "Bronwen's appointment significantly strengthens our specialist capability in bunker quality and liquid cargo disputes. Her rare combination of deep scientific expertise and practical operational insight aligns perfectly with our commitment to delivering rigorous, evidence-based support to our clients worldwide."

Her appointment further enhances our multidisciplinary capability and reinforces our commitment to providing clients with evidence-based, technically robust support on the most challenging marine cases.
