Kaupo is a Marine Surveyor with Lars Krogius Baltic, in Tallinn since 2001. Before becoming a surveyor he spent 10 years at sea, on general cargo and container vessels in ranks up to and including Chief Officer.
As a marine surveyor he has been involved in various survey work for a variety of interests, from flag states to P&I Clubs, specialising in heavy lift load-out and marine warranty surveys, towage approval and vessel condition surveys. At this time he studied for the Diploma in Marine Surveying, a correspondence course with National Sea Training Centre and Lloyd’s Maritime Academy. After returning to sea in 2011 Kaupo obtained his Master’s Certificate in 2013. When returning to the office he attended and investigated casualties such as groundings, fire, collisions and sinking and acted as expert witness in court.
Kaupo has taken courses in accident investigation, technical cargo surveying and vessel valuation, hull inspection and repairs as well as survey and examination of lifting appliances; he is a certified SSO/CSO. Kaupo is an Approved Nautical Inspector for the Bahamas Maritime Authority.
