Before joining Krogius, Tommi was a Marine Surveyor in Hong Kong and Singapore where he attended to various P&I and H&M claims and disputes for IG Clubs and international law firms. His degrees in marine technology and international shipping had an emphasis on admiralty and insurance law, which offers a good support when engaging in marine inspections and investigations.
Before joining the shore career in surveying, he sailed on multiple types of ships up to the rank of second officer. He has been involved in a variety of different types of surveys from usual cargo claims and condition surveys to more serious incidents of tanker explosions, bulk cargo liquefaction, mass reefer failures and container stack collapses. In the past he has worked together with material scientists in a number of marine investigations.
Tommi has prepared extensive survey reporting for legal needs in arbitration and litigation. Tommi holds a B.Eng in Marine Technology (KyAMK, Finland) and a M.Sc in International Shipping and Transport Logistics (PolyU, Hong Kong)
