CV summary

Willem graduated with a Master's degree in Nautical Sciences from the Antwerp Maritime Academy in 2007. Before going to sea, he also obtained a Master's degree in International Relations and Diplomacy from the University of Antwerp.

Willem spent more than 12 years at sea, serving on chemical/oil tankers, dredging vessels, and offshore vessels. During his maritime career, he obtained a Master Mariner's licence and concluded his seagoing career as Chief Officer on harbour tugboats.
Prior to joining Van Ameyde Marine in 2025, he also worked at the Port of Antwerp as a Vessel Traffic Services (VTS) Operator.
