Rutger Bierman is a Master Mariner with a degree in Maritime Studies (Nautical /Technical) from Rotterdam University (HR&O). He has 12 years seagoing experience, including 4 years as Master on DP construction vessels in oil fields in the Asia Pacific region and North Sea.
At sea, gained experience in diving support, subsea construction, precision rock dumping, pipeline trenching/removal, cable laying, dredging and salvage operations. His seagoing experience further includes coastal general cargo vessels, bulk carriers and reefer vessels.
A Marine Consultant in Singapore since 2006, during which he gained experience in undertaking investigations into collisions, rig, vessel and cargo damages and safe berth assessments for P&I clubs and admiralty lawyers. Attended salvage operations including the refloating of a grounded laden tanker, monitored damage repairs and reviewed General Average claims.
Acted as expert witness in Malaysian court. Acted as Client Marine Representative and MWS during rig moves and other offshore operations. As DP consultant has provided FMEA packages, DP training, witnessed DP trials and carried out DP incident investigations. ISM/ISPS/MLC and OVID inspector. Carried out new build monitoring on behalf of oil majors.
